This online calculator helps you determine what LED power supply you will need for your LED strip light project. Simply answer the questions below, and you’ll get a quick recommendation.
Total Power:
Number of Drivers Needed:
Notes: Step-by-step information on how to calculate power supply requirements:
Step 1: Determine the length of the LED strip you will connect to a single power supply.
Step 2: Find out the voltage and power consumption (watts per meter) for your LED strip. For example, the LED strip power draw might be 14.4 watts per meter.
Step 3: Multiply the length of the LED strip by the power consumption per meter to get the total power required. For instance, if you have 10 meters of LED strip with 14.4 watts per meter, the total power requirement will be 144 watts.
Step 4: Choose a power supply that can handle the total power requirement. Remember, a power supply should only be loaded to about 80% of its maximum capacity to ensure reliability and safety.
Step 5: Divide the total power requirement by 80% of the power supply’s rated wattage to determine the number of power supplies needed. Always round up to ensure sufficient power capacity.
Example: If you have an LED strip that is 10 meters long, with a power consumption of 24 watts per meter, and you are using a 150W power supply:
